I don't remember how we figured out we were interested in each other, but I remember us both smiling so much. We were at a house party…and we snuck away from the group to be alone. My first queer kiss was with a friend from my high school theater department. It was a drunken exploration for her, and a sobering confirmation for me. A high because it was finally happening: I was finally kissing a girl! And then a low because there was this moment of recognition of just how much the kiss meant to me, and likely didn’t mean to her (she was straight, I’m a cliché!). It was such an immediate high, and then low. ![]() We were camp counselors together, spent our days running after four-year-olds and our nights partying with the rest of the staff. It was with a girl I had had a crush on for the whole summer. My first queer kiss was during my summer before college. By then, we had been flirting for a few weeks (though he still wasn't out yet), and we ended up making out while The Office played in the background. ![]() ![]() My first kiss with another boy was at the end of a junior- and senior-year beach trip in high school (I was a junior, he was a senior). Whether a deep and meaningful makeout, or an awkward and unsure smooch, 12 people opened up about their first. Still, we asked people to describe their first queer kiss in all its glory.
